Lauren Rudeck, known as La Ru, opened Robot vs Sloth in 2018 at Pike Place Market to showcase her artwork and the work of other local artists, building a space that makes people smile. After years of doing craft and art fairs following the 2008 recession, she grew the brand into a beloved Seattle staple. In June 2025, she opened a second location in Magnolia Village, expanding the concept to include a Craft Bar where people of all ages and abilities can drop in and make something. The shop carries work from 50+ local artists across prints, enamel pins, stickers, plushies, apparel, and more. A portion of sales from select items goes to the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica (for real sloths), Special Bunny, and Lambert House, which supports LGBTQIA+ youth.
